Well, my MARtians, “Team MAR” is packing their bags. Tomorrow we relocate on assignment for the St. Croix Wedding Symposium, located in the US Virgin Islands. I’m delighted for two reasons: one, the USVI does not require a passport and two, I get to wear summery clothes again – including my shorts, white bucks and white pants.
The topic of weddings always makes me think of hosting Dream Wedding, and the magnificent Rebecca Green Whiting (that’s her photo, by photographer Danny Kash). She’s become such a dear friend and continues to inspire me. So I’m happy to be asked to help elevate those who work in the wedding industry. (They might all see her photo, too – what a great example of a glowing bride!)
Last year I attended the event as MC when it was held in St. Thomas, so I’m elated to return. Thank you, Jacqueline Johnson, President & CEO, of GLOBAL BRIDAL GROUP, for your continued support. I love working with you!
Now, who will be in attendance? Independent wedding planners, hotel wedding planners, beauty & makeup personnel, cake suppliers, dress experts, hotel managers, photographers and all those who are striving to elevate their craft within the Destination Wedding Market.Everyone who attends comes away with a wealth of extra knowledge – and enhanced networking connections, too.
This year’s featured speakers include internationally renowned wedding and party planner Colin Cowie. He will be speaking about trends and raising the bar and I must say I can’t wait to interview him one on one.
Part of my role will be to create a record of this event to help Global Bridal Group promote future events, so “Team Mar” includes a renowned videographer and his assistant. We’ll be rolling the cameras in order to highlight the speakers, the symposium’s location, and what makes St. Croix such a hot spot – not just for weddings, but as the perfect destination to de-stress, unwind and relax on this island paradise.
