Hello my MARtians!
This week I was asked by CTC&G (a favorite magazine: Connecticut Cottages & Gardens) to dine at the Gaggenau Bistro 1683, which is currently installed at the GrayBarns at the Silvermine River inn.
Gaggenau is a manufacturer of premium kitchen appliances–from cooktops to dishwashers. ‘1683’ is a traveling restaurant. It’s the embodiment of a three-century journey, from hand-forged beginnings to the pinnacle of culinary luxury. Immersed in the sights, sounds and smells of the Black Forest, all guests travel to the mythic origins of Gaggenau without leaving Connecticut. Greeted by an unprecedented legacy of innovation, guests we were swept through the centuries with the sensorial exhilaration of a fully immersive culinary experience and I was lucky enough to be one of them.
On Tuesday night I arrived with my tastebuds ready to be wowed. Cocktails were served in the sophisticated 19th Century inn; it is charming, completely restored and renovated. LOVE!
I took a peek at 2 of the 6 upscale, rustic-chic rooms in the inn. Each individually decorated with reclaimed wood elements and incredible fireplaces, all with amazing river views. I did not want to leave, but it was time for dinner.
We walked over to the Barn where the team of experts had transformed the space into the forest of Germany. That said, if Mother Nature had a primary residence she would have made this barn her Connecticut home.
It was an extraordinary evening filled with incredible people and delectable food by Michelin Star Chef Günter Seeger. (Yes, wow!) How lucky was I to experience the very special VIP invitation to this local Norwalk event. This opulent evening was simply delightful; not only because of the endless courses and wine pairing of food, but the many new friends and connections that were made.
Thank you CTC&G for the invite, the experience and the memories. Gaggenau certainly knows how to inspire creative partnerships. They began by manufacturing nails and today they “nail” it with style, feature, and reliability in all their lines.
