MARtians, I just came back from breezing in and out of the City. I am the New York Correspondent for all things Antigua and Barbuda, so of course, I couldn’t miss their special event, “A Celebration of Film and Television” this Wednesday night. MARtians, if you have been keeping track, last year the event’s special honored guest was Robert De Niro. This year did not disappoint with all the stars and dignitaries.
If you love riveting television like I do, you will recognize the event’s ‘Honorary Tourism Ambassador’ – the stunning and talented Marianne Jean-Baptiste. This Academy Award-nominated actress has starred most recently in NBC’s hit series “Blindspot.” What a great show! If you have yet to watch it, you are truly missing out.
While it was delightful speaking with and interviewing Marianne, the event’s focus was on the many delights of Antigua and Barbuda, particularly in culture and the arts. There is so much coming up this year to get excited about. Their focus on exceptional tourism experiences and quality arts programs is something to truly admire.
The event also offered a sneak peek at an upcoming episode of PBS’saward-winningg documentary series, “Music Voyager.” Wow! That is going to be an amazing series to watch. Tune in this fall to see what everyone was crowing about at the ceremony.
So many dignitaries were at the event it was such a thrill. From Ambassador Dr. Walton Aubrey Weston to Mr. Colin C James, CEO of Antigua & Barbuda Tourism and of course Ms. Jean-Baptiste – I am still awed and star-struck.
