It’s National Dog Day, MARtians!
If you haven’t already heard, today is the special day set aside for humans to pay proper homage to our cherished canine companions. I love this day because it gives me a legitimate excuse to make the entire day (or even weekend) about Miss Violet Annabelle Rose Von Schnorkenheimer. There are so many things we can do. Walk in the park, visit the beach, take a stroll down Main Street, or we can grab lunch at terrain or Shake Shack.
You may have seen my post about Yappy Hour and great local places you can relax with your dog, or even shop with your dog. Check it out for a few great ideas about where you can bring your dog to observe this special holiday.
There are many places that are preparing special events just for pups or in the name of dogs. Hot dog eating contests will abound. There will be adoption fairs, doggy photo shoots, and of course parties where the honored guests are all four-legged and furry.
I hope you take your pretty pooch out on the town tonight to celebrate the love, affection and unconditional acceptance they so freely share with us – the humans. I’m going to prepare a lovely treat for Violet and spend time with her outside in her favorite place, Rosebrook Gardens. (Maybe she’ll have a new photo or two to add to her Facebook page. Surprised? Don’t be; she’s very ‘social’!)
