My BVI

I returned yesterday from the British Virgin Islands (BVI), and yet feel as if I had been away for a month. Amazingly, I am well rested even though I worked every day on this assignment. So when asked to read my opening lines from the bow of the boat, or do a cannonball into the clear blue waters at Norman Island, or swim to the trampoline at White Beach, I did as requested. Then I asked if I could do it again, and again, just so I could make it last as long as possible. This is one time when one doesn’t want to be a “one-take wonder”!

I must begin by thanking my longtime friend and business colleague, Jacqueline Johnson, from marrycaribbean.com, for partnering with the Fox team to solidify this magnificent destination segment for Northeast Living. I so look forward to many more destination segments and can hardly wait for the next one.

Paradise greeted me in Tortola with brilliant blue skies, clear turquoise waters and friendly Islanders. I was surrounded by beauty and this was just the beginning. A spectacular room overlooking the marina became MAR Central.

Instead of including every last detail, I offer you this blog montage:

Breathtaking sunsets, tropical breezes, cocktails by the pool, white powdery sand, swaying in a hammock under a palm, cocktails on the beach, superior cuisine, lush vegetation, the Painkiller Cocktail, evening strolls, snorkeling with the fish. Amazing clawless lobster dinners, shopping, effortlessly floating in salt water, did I say the Painkiller Cocktail? that caused me to ramble on all through lunch, spa treatments. Spending time with aMARzing people, a private cruise to surrounding islands, a suntan, windblown hair (what’s left of it!) and finally interviewing the delightful Director of Tourism and not wanting to come home.

If you’re thinking about a vacation, honeymoon or long weekend getaway, this is the place for you. BVI might stand for British Virgin Islands, but to me, it stands for Best Vacation Islands. Learn more about the BVI at www.bvitourism.com. Please take me with you!!

Each and every person I met was the epitome of hospitality. I am so grateful that I do what I love every day and get to share it with you. And the beauty of the BVI comes not just from its tropical paradise location and all that entails, but from the many hearts of those who so graciously touched mine.
