I love lessons and lectures, and even more so when I am the speaker! It’s been several years since I last headlined the Connecticut Flower & Garden Show, to be held from Thursday, February 21 to Sunday, February 24, 2019. And of course the popular lecture series is happily headlined by yours truly, on all four days. I’m back by popular demand, with a wonderful new lecture: “Bringing Casual Luxury Home.” Now that makes me feel like royalty!
My six core principles, my design secrets, and the techniques featured on Life on Mar’s will be the outline for this fun, inspiring and informative lecture, featuring some of my very favorite “before and after transformations” from my Home Makeover show.
There is SO MUCH to see and do at the show. The Connecticut Flower & Garden Show is one of the largest and most prestigious shows of its kind in New England. The four-day event covers three acres with this year’s theme: The Charm of Spring, providing creative and practical ideas and solutions for a homeowner, an apartment dweller and everyone in between.
This year’s highlights include a full acre of gardens in bloom, created by professional landscape designers, with low-maintenance gardens, organic gardens, pollinator gardens and more. You can also explore 300 booths of displays, activities, and shopping, with selections of handcrafted gifts, seeds, books, furniture, and the newest and best gardening equipment. Bring a sample of your own garden soil, and have it tested by the UConn Co-Op. Why not?!
There will also be a competition hosted by The Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut – The 2019 Advanced Flower Show, with 250 plus entrants vying for a prize in design, horticulture, and photography. This year’s theme; April in Paris. I can’t wait to see the other kings and queens of the castles!
