It’s that time a year, my MARtians, when Rosebrook Gardens begins to prepare for the holiday season with lots of festive décor ideas. Last year’s Mother Nature inspired holiday house tour was a huge success and this year, although Rosebrook Gardens is on break from touring, I have already begun to plan out my decor, what I’m calling a “building” Christmas theme. You’ll just need to wait for the festive creative theme to come to life before I share it.
This last weekend I was delighted to return to the Farmington Library to speak, this time to give my first lecture on Holiday Décor. What a success! Guests arrived an hour ahead to get a good seat for the lecture. Team Mar has been working hard for months compiling just the right photos from my extensive collection of holiday déccor over the years. I showed how you can decorate for the holidays without a single Santa. And guess what? It was a hit! The ‘ooh’s and aah’s’ were heard throughout the room. 100 top photos captured their attention as Rosebrook Gardens became the winter wonderland haven for their eyes to feast on. Thanks again to the great team there, led by Jessica, for making me and my team feel so welcome.
I must say nothing makes me happier than to inspire people to create not just holiday décor but festive, long-lasting ideas that surpass the traditional holiday season. I wrapped up the session with a Q&A followed by a book signing; I felt like Carol Burnett as I uttered “Let’s turn up the lights and see if you have any questions.“ I returned to Westport with a sense of pride that dedicated new mini MARtians were born. (That’s a new MARtian!)
This week I’m back at it again with another lecture for a local organization, but this time right in Westport. If you have ever experienced one of my lecture(s) you know just how passionate I am about my talks. I walk and talk, and tell some fun behind-the-scenes stories that no doubt make you laugh along with me.
