Flower and Garden Lecture Fun

This weekend I am having an absolute blast as the headline speaker at the Connecticut Flower and Garden show. It’s exciting to wake up every day and drive to Hartford and check in at the convention center and feel the excitement in the air.

It is an amazing show this year, with installations on the show floor that rival anything I have seen in the past few years. I particularly love seeing all the different ways that pavers and shrubbery are used to create spaces. (and a few live animals, too!) Plus lots and lots of fascinating vendors with unique items.

My topic that I am sharing with everyone is Bringing Casual Luxury Home. Thank you for the great response! Your “oohs” and “aahs” are very flattering. It’s a visual journey through my home and garden and the design principles I use to create those spaces. I often get asked, “what’s your secret to making things look so great?” And in this lecture series I’m sharing that recipe with everyone who comes.

The first few days have been packed attendance, and there’s two more days to go. I have lectures today at 11 o’clock and 2 PM and do the same tomorrow, on Sunday.

Okay, time to go, need to get ready for my next lecture. I want to think so many of you who have shown up and said hello, and I hope that I see even more of you in the next couple of days. (And don’t forget: the first one thousand people who enter the Garden Show every day get a free copy my best-selling gardening book–so bring yours to the lecture to get it signed!)
