As a designer and a Realtor I have many fantastic resources and many times I have the pleasure of working with these artisans on my own home, Rosebrook Gardens. This time I am commissioning something very special and unique for myself/home.
My buddy Charlie, from Sterling Custom Cabinetry who I was introduced to several years ago, has been a custom cabinet maker for decades, working with some of the most well-known celebrity clients across the tri-state area. Founded in 2004 by Charles Marsillio, a veteran in the industry with over 40 years of experience. It has since become one of the premier custom cabinetry shops in the area due to its commitment to quality, craftsmanship and customer service. So when I finally visited his manufacturing office/showroom I was both beyond impressed and blown away by his knowledge in the business and his talented team. I knew right then and there that he would be my number one resource for all things custom going forward.
He is a true professional, dedicated to custom cabinetry and out-of-the-box designs. I simply sketch it out and he makes it happen! The perfect partner for a creative person like me. Since our first meeting he has manufactured and installed kitchen cabinetry, dressers, vanities, mirrors, and closets. All brilliantly interpreted from a simple “Mar” drawing and sometimes even on a napkin. I’ve told him that I can always draw my vision, but he can actually bring it to life.
Yesterday my primary bedroom’s clothing storage got a major upgrade with the addition of this piece, which is both beautiful and functional. It’s all set to accommodate my ever-growing array of sweaters, pocket squares, belts, watches and other curated collections.
My inspiration comes by the way of a department store display: an attractive furniture piece showing beautiful accessories as well as displaying and storing items. That said, LED strips will showcase my collection while offering the perfect amount of light for ambience and romance. The back wall behind the shelves is lined in a Philip Jeffries wallpaper to add texture and visual interest to this amarzing custom built-in piece.
How did I get this idea? Not long ago I designed a lardar for a friend. I was so thrilled with the end result I decided right then and there during that installation to create something unique for my home. So I went right to it, coming up with a crazy idea for a marder but rather than for food for clothing and accessories.
So there you have it: my marder is designed for functionality, beauty and style. Casual luxury personified.
