The beginning of this first gardening season of the new decade brings great excitement, as more than 350 gardens across the country will open their gates for The Garden Conservancy’s Open Day program. The Garden Conservancy is a national organization with a mission to preserve exceptional American gardens for the education and enjoyment of the public. Since 1995, nearly 3,000 private gardens have participated in the Open Days, welcoming close to a million visitors thus far.
That said, Rosebrook Gardens will be part of this prestigious tour on June 6th and I can’t wait to show off my garden(s) and the burst of prolific blooms that will be on full display. This tour is extra-special, as this is the first public tour since the release of my award-winning best selling gardening book, Life On Mar’s-A Four Season Garden. But don’t come expecting to see much of the same, as many new updates and surprises will await you. New garden designs, even more details – big and small, and of course new plants. I hope you’ll come and enjoy the beauty as it unfolds. Witness for yourself my inner love and passion for mother nature – it’s infectious and you’ll take it away with you. This is what “Life On Mar’s” is all about.
I have been busy drilling down and up on just about every last detail, to assure that the experience will evoke the true essence of Rosebrook Gardens, while still being new and improved. Designed from the ground up as an oasis containing everything one can love about a garden, complete with pergolas, topiaries, water features, arbors, and trellises. My endless growing boxwood collection creates order and provides a consistent flow between lawns, walkways, side gardens, flower gardens and entertainment spaces.
As a gardening aficionado, the allure of the garden studio and the house comes from its classic lines and nature-inspired color palette. The gardens seem to flow right up to and through them, and I think it adds even more charm and refinement to the gardens that way. I know visitors have said the effect is both “simply elegant” and “elegantly simple.”
My team of workers and service providers has been busy supporting me with every last detail, assuring we will be ready. So what’s new in the garden? So with the dirt under my nails, the mulch arriving next week, and June 6th hot on my heels, I’ll continue to be busy right up to the tour. Truth be told, when I witness the smiles of joy on all who enter Rosebrook Gardens only then will I feel complete, as my gardens were created for inspiration and to MARvel over.
