Stop Zapping. Start Trapping.

What an exciting week, my MARtians. Yesterday, my home Rosebrook Gardens became the exciting backdrop for a full production shoot, as I partnered with Dynatrap flying insect traps to film sMARt Tips for a bug-free outdoor entertaining season.

The weather was perfect, the birds were chirping and Rosebrook Gardens was ready for the production team. As lights, reflectors, cameras, and teleprompter were set up, last-minute set styling took place, too. I reflected on how the day would not have been possible without the many talented people involved in every aspect. The amazing client, their top-notch PR company and of course the production team; each supported the project and became part of what was no doubt a perfect day. There is no “I” in the word team, and everyone shared the glory of the project and how excited we all were to be working together.

We began the day at 7 am and finished about 8. We accomplished a lot! I can’t wait to see the finished videos. Soon they will be posted on dynatrap.com, along with lots of my other bug-free summer entertaining tips.

So what makes this partnership so special? The product, quite frankly, is so innovative and rather ingenious. As much as I love Mother Nature, I have never been a big fan of flying pests – but I really don’t love insecticides or having to lather myself with bug spray every time I want to sit outside. Because mosquitoes see me and scream “buffet!”

Unlike other pest deterrent products or potions, Dynatrap insect traps offer a three-way protection plan for insect elimination. First, UV fluorescent bulbs produce warm light to attract insects to the Dynatrap; second, an exclusive coating of titanium dioxide (TiO2) inside Dynatrap produces carbon dioxide (CO2) which is irresistible to mosquitoes; and lastly, the powerful vacuum fan draws them into the retaining cage where they dehydrate and die. So yes – the products are pesticide and odor free, easy to set-up, low maintenance, and do not use propane or gas. And quiet – there’s no zapping sound to distract you from your outdoor relaxation. (I mean, zapping is so “÷90’s!)

Here’s something I learned: the time to start eliminating pests is now before summer really starts. Even though there is a chill in the air, the mosquito breeding season has begun, so this is the time to start your control efforts. By summer you will have broken the mosquito’s reproduction cycle and can enjoy your yard without being on alert for that “zzzzz” sound.

Is it any wonder I’m calling this the “must have” for the season? And great looking, too; you can see from my photo how fantastic it looks right in my garden. (The best part is Dynatrap offers a variety of insect traps designed to fit your life and style.) Truth be told, Rosebrook Gardens just became a bug-free zone! I’m so happy to have found a green alternative to catch mosquitoes (and also biting flies, Asian beetles, wasps, hornets, yellow jackets, moths, stink bugs and more – yikes!) My garden, my guests, and my neighbors will all benefit from my Dynatrap this year. I know I’m looking forward to being able to focus on my mojitos, not mosquitoes!
