Happy Weekend My MARtians! I am getting in the mood for the really, truly, best of the best, all-out New York City Easter Parade! MARtian’s, I am going to be there, so if you are of pilgrims of this particular progress, I hope you spy me and I spy you!
At home, lots of things are blooming and showing their spring best, from the grape hyacinths, I love so dearly, to the little yellow daffodils whose loud and happy yellow parries back and forth with the serenely genteel purple. In New York, my friend and I are hoping to be dressed at least as well Rosebrook Gardens. And with charming bonnets to boot!
The NYC Easter parade began its popular accent to cultural phenomenon in the 1880s through the 1950s and has continued is popularity into modern times. The parade was born out of the highly decorated NYC churches that went all out on Easter in their finery and floral festooning. This joyous spirit spilled out onto the streets and a parade was born. Now, it is a celebration of Easter as much as it is a competition of style, lavishness, and originality of design.
The parade makes its way from Fifth Avenue to 49th / 57th Streets, in Manhattan and is usually held 10am-4pm every Easter Sunday. You don’t need a ticket to join in the fun and dressing up in your finest is highly encouraged. That is just what I intend to do.
