Romancing Mother Nature

Garden party with Mar Jennings benefits
The Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center

Lifestyle expert, author and celebrity host Mar Jennings will be presenting his nature-inspired ideas for the home, gifts and the garden, and signing copies of his award-winning book Life on Mar’s: A Four Season Garden, at a garden party to benefit the Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center on July 15. The event will help the Breast Care Center provide comprehensive screening and diagnostic breast care services to all women regardless of their ability to pay.
Jennings will bring examples of his nature-inspired work for guests to discover as they roam the garden in a scavenger hunt. “They will be able to take home ideas they can do themselves,” Jennings says. He will also be debuting his new line of signature drinks which, Jennings says, “capture the essence of entertaining.”

Jennings is the in-house lifestyle expert and correspondent for Better TV, as well as the home expert for the Fine Living Network. He is the best-selling author of Life On Mar’s, A Four Season Garden, an award-winning photo-essay book that chronicles the evolution of his Westport, Conn. garden, and how he planned it to provide visual interest and beauty through all four seasons. The book was inspired by his passion and desire to make gardening simple and easy to do.

Jennings, who is donating 100% of the evening’s proceeds from the sales of his book to the Breast Care Center, has had family members touched by cancer and feels strongly about helping. “Obviously I’m blessed and I have an obligation to do something about that,” Jennings says. “This is a small token of the greater good that is out there. There’s power in numbers and we’re making a difference.”

The event is being held at the private home of Donna and Phil Craft of Greenfield Hills/Easton. Donna Craft is a member of the Breast Care Center’s Advisory Board and vice chair of the President’s Council. The event is chaired by President Council Members Linda Blackwell, Amy Desel and Robin Righter, all of Fairfield. The benefit takes place on July 15 from 6:30-9:00. Tickets are $75/each.
